Rifftrax Presents: Santa And The Ice Cream Bunny – This Thursday
The ABC Family (soon to be Freeform?) 25 Days of Christmas has begun, and with it comes viewings of everyone’s favorite Christmas movies. You’ve got Christmas Vacation, Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, among many others. However, there is one Christmas movie that will not be shown on ABC Family, and only in theaters nationwide on Thursday, December 3rd at 8:00 PM. The fellas from Rifftrax will be doing their magic on an unseen version of “Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny”.
In Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny, Christmas is rapidly approaching, but Santa is stranded in Florida as his sleigh is stuck in the sandy beaches. The reindeer have flown back to the North Pole to escape the heat, but they left Santa behind. How will Santa ever get back to the North Pole in time for Christmas? Oh and for some reason, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are there too? It also involves a story of Jack and The Beanstalk told by Santa to local Florida children while they are waiting to free Santa’s sleigh. This is the movie…
If you have never been to see a RiffTrax Live event, there are a lot of things that you can expect. It is hosted by three members of what was formerly Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Michael J. Nelson, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy). The event is broadcast to hundreds of movie theaters across the country. The show opens with an introduction of the crew and they’ll do a little banter with the crowd back and forth. This will possibly follow with some short film from the 1950s or so that they will do the MST3K treatment to. When they do these live performances, they bring out some of the most ridiculous short films, many of which are instructional films. After the short that the guys make fun of, the main feature will begin and then it’s an hour and a half of non-stop laughter.
