Stephen Colbert is a man of the south. Living in South Carolina, he became accustom to, as we in Kentucky have, to finishing a late night out by mistakenly dropping by the local Waffle House to sober up with a little grease and some hash browns. BUT – apparently Colbert didn’t know that all Waffle Houses have a jukebox full of songs about Waffle House. So, two months ago, Colbert enlisted Kentuckian Sturgill Simpson to write a song about Waffle House called “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Knuckleheads”, to get on the “Awful Waffle’s” jukebox.
Welp, it worked… and last night Colbert and Simpson went down to a Waffle House in Charleston, SC for the red carpet premier of their Waffle House jukebox joint. It’s not a bad song, and Sturgill is rocking a pretty sweet Kentucky shirt:
So next time you go to Waffle House, make sure you play this song on repeat. Make Waffle House the new “Salt and Pepper Diner”
