A couple of things to start. A) Morning Monologue is going to make a comeback. I won’t do it every day, but my goal is 1-2 times a week to find the fun stuff that is happening on late night television. 2) I’ve pretty much been solely watching Stephen Colbert since he has started his show back in the fall. I think he’s doing a great job, but I have pretty much shielded myself from a lot of the good moments from all of the other chat shows. D) While I had soured a bit on Fallon since Colbert started, it’s when he has moments like this that make you realize just how good he is.
Jimmy has the ability to be both the most endearing and annoying late night talk show host. His laughter to things that aren’t incredibly funny, whether fake or honest, is a bit off-putting. However, the idea of having Billy Joel on, and instead of making him play one of his hits, to suggest just playing a song like they’re just sitting around at a party, brings out what makes Fallon the best in the late night landscape. So enjoy Jimmy and Billy Joel playing Beast of Burden with the Roots.
