Morning Monologue: ICYMI – Saying Farewell

I will preface this post by saying we had a lot of fun putting together Funkhouser’s Ultimate Christmas Album last week.  However, because we devoted the entire week to the joyous sounds of holiday music, a few things slipped through the cracks.  Last Thursday and Friday were big days in the world of late night talk shows.  So let’s take a look at the late night moments we missed.

Late Show With David Letterman

While it wasn’t Letterman’s final show, it was the final time that he would be doing the Christmas episode with all of the fan favorites.  Yes, Jay Thomas was there to tell the Lone Ranger Story & knock the meatball off of the tree.  But, most importantly, Darlene Love was there to sing Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).  She said in an interview that, while she will still sing the song elsewhere, she will never sing the famous song on any other late night show in honor of Dave.

The Colbert Report

It is hard to put all the moments into words from the Colbert Report finale.  Let’s just say it involves killing death, finding immortality, a lot of your friends coming by and singing with you, and riding off into the sky with Santa and two other special guests.
