Alright, ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for what that you all have been waiting for: The Royal Rumble Pool Contest. For years, my friends and I have been doing this contest as a supplement to the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View. There are usually 10 of us who get together during the evening and participate in the contest. Before the match, we each put $5-10 into the pot that goes to the winner. Because there are 10 of us, we each draw three entrant numbers from 1-30 out of a hat, that correspond to entrants in the Royal Rumble match. Whatever wrestler comes out as the number we drew, becomes our wrestler. If the number we drew wins the Royal Rumble, we win the money in the pot. Also: the person who drew the entrant with the most eliminations on the night gets their money back as a consolation prize.
So I thought, why not bring this contest to the fine readers of Funkhouser. While no money will be at stake, there will still be a prize. The winner of the Funkhouser Royal Rumble Pool will win a copy of Filsinger Games: Legends of Wrestling. It is a card and dice game that simulates professional wrestling, using some of your favorite wrestlers from the past. Some of the roster includes: The Legion of Doom, Jimmy Snuka, Harley Race, King Kong Bundy, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Greg “The Hammer Valentine”, the Sandman, Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff and many more. There are also expansion sets you can buy with people like Daniel Bryan, Claudio Castagnoli (Antonio Cesaro), Tensai, and many many more. If you have the entrant number with the most eliminations in the 2014 Royal Rumble, you will win the “Poffo Madness” three-card set with Macho Man Randy Savage, “The Genius” Lanny Poffo, and their father, Angelo Poffo. I’ll also throw in the Daniel Bryan, World Heavyweight Championship card as well. For more information on Filsinger Games, check out their website here.
Here’s how this is going to work:
1. If you want to participate, leave a comment in the comment section below with who you think is going to win the Royal Rumble. Also, write how many eliminations you think will be the most eliminations by one wrestler.
2. Please use your real email address when commenting, so I can contact you about information to send you your prize. Your email will not be used for anything else. Cut off for sign-ups will be at 7:00 PM tonight (January 26th).
3. I will randomly assign entrant numbers to the contestants, using a random number generator. So, the first 30 people to sign up, will be listed as 1-30 in random order. If we have more than 30 people, I will do a second list again randomized 1-30. Also, if we have more than 30 people participate, and two people end up with the same entrant #, then I will go to the Rumble Winner then # of eliminations in your comments for the tie-breakers.
4. Watch the Royal Rumble Match, and cheer on your Superstar!
5. If your number wins the Royal Rumble, you win the prize. The person who has the entrant with the most eliminations will win the second place prize.
To help with your selection of the winner in your comments, here is the list of wrestlers currently confirmed for the Royal Rumble match: Batista, CM Punk (will be #1 entrant), Alberto Del Rio, Big E Langston, The Miz, R-Truth, Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Rey Mysterio, Fandango, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper, Damien Sandow, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso. That is just 20 wrestlers, so there are 10 entrants that have not been named, including some surprise legend entrants.
I will contact, via email, the winner of the 2014 Funkhouser Royal Rumble Pool to get your contact information. So sign up in the comments below and check back during the Royal Rumble to see what entrant # you drew. I will update this page during the match as wrestlers enter the match, so if you want to comment on the Rumble during the match, you can continue to do so in the comments. Happy Rumbling!
UPDATE: I’ve cut off the sign-ups. If your name has a number in parentheses beside it, you either had the same name as someone else, and that was how I differentiated it – OR – you signed up multiple times, and I took your last submission. I used random.org to randomize the results. For people who got 1-30, got those entrants. For those who got 31-60, I started entrant 1 at 31, entrant 2 at 32. For 61-86, I added four n/a spots, then randomized those 30 numbers another 10 times.
The tiebreaker will go in this order: Pick of Winner > # of Eliminations > Named Person with Most Eliminations > Time of Sign-up

.25 of an elimination given to Punk, Kofi, Cody, and Rollins
.33 of an elimination given to Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns for a triple elimination.
(In WWE standards, if multiple people make an elimination, they get credit for one elimination each. Here, we believe that there should only be 29 eliminations given, so that’s the reason for the partial credit for some wrestlers.)
Congrats to CNewt24, who is the winner of the Legends of Wrestling set, as he had entrant #28 (Batista) and picked Batista to win in the tie breaker. Glensboro Icon had the wrestler with the most eliminations (Roman Reigns) as well as picking Batista to win in the tie breaker, so he will win the Poffo Madness and Daniel Bryan Set. I will contact you all via email for your contact information. Thanks for participating everybody!
