The UK Women’s Volleyball team lost a tough match against the #18 Florida State Seminole’s tonight, 3-0. The Cats fought hard, but could not recover after falling behind early. Earlier in the day, the Seminoles opened their season with a loss to 3-0 to Illinois and took out its revenge on the Cats.

In the third and final set the girls had 12 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks. They only had 2 attack and 1 service error. This was their worse deficit at 25-20. In this set the girls started down 4-0 to tie it at 12, however fell short at the end.

The best player for the Cats was Whitney Billings. She had 10 kills, 10 digs, 4 blocks, 1 assist, and her hitting efficiency was at .167.  At this rate, after tomorrow’s game Billings should join the 1,000-Kill Club. The last Volleyball player to join that club was Cathy DeBuono who played for the Cats in 1988-91.

The Volleyball team will take on Illinois tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in their second game of the invitational.
