The University of Kentucky’s softball team begins their season Thursday, Feb. 6th at 12:00pm in Long Beach, California, at the Mizuno Invitational. The Cats will open their season against Santa Clara and will then go on to play at least 4 more games in the West Coast Tournament.

This is the first year SEC coaches have voted on an overall predicted order to finish, rather then a predicted order to finish by division, and the Wildcats are predicted to finish fifth in the SEC, behind Florida at number 1, followed by Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia.

2014 SEC Softball Coaches Predicted Order of Finish:
1. Florida (10)
2. Tennessee (2)
3. Alabama (1)
4. Georgia
5. Kentucky
6. Missouri
7. Texas A&M
8. LSU
9. Arkansas
10. Auburn
11. South Carolina
12. Mississippi State
13. Ole Miss

Coming off a 2013 school record of 41 wins, the Wildcats enter this season with its highest preseason ranking in school history coming in at No. 12, posted last week in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Preseason Top 25.

The Cats are scheduled to play 25 home games at John Cropp Stadium this season, kicking off the home opener against Eastern Kentucky Feb. 28th at 3:00pm. Season tickets are now on sale, which includes 25 regular season home games, and 2 regular season tournaments that will be hosted by the Cats at John Cropp Stadium. Single game tickets go on sale Feb. 10th, at 9:00am and can be purchased by calling the ticket office at 1-800-928-2287.
