UK Gymnastics take down Mizzou.

The UK Gymnastics team won their first true road meet of the year tonight with a season best 195.100 total over the Missouri Tigers in Columbia. The Cats won three events and posted meet-high scores on three of the four rotations. Audrey Harrison took the all-around title with a 38.675.

The Cats opened on the bars tonight where Audrey Harrison posted a season high 9.825 and Tiara Phipps debuted for a 9.825. Shelby Hilton notched a solid 9.775, Kayla Sienkowski contributed a 9.75, and Amy Roemmele gave the Wildcats a 9.7.

From there, Kentucky moved to the vault. Audrey Harrison scored 9.725, Marissa Beucler tied her career high of 9.725, and Shelby Hilton posted her season high 9.800. Shannon Mitchell contributed a 9.675, while Kenzie Hedges and Holly Cunningham each scored a season best 9.825.

The third rotation put the Cats on the floor. Shannon Mitchell opened the event with a 9.700, followed by freshman Taylor Puryear who posted a career high 9.725. Phipps notched her season best score of 9.775, Holly Hedges contributed a 9.875, and Kayla Hartley posted a 9.850. Finally, Audrey Harrison scored a near-perfect 9.9.

Kentucky closed on beam tonight, opening with a 9.400 from Shannon Mitchell. They then moved on to Kayla Sienkowski’s 9.675, and Amy Roemmele’s 9.775. Audrey Harrison posted a 9.225, followed by a 9.625 from Marissa Beucler. Kentucky anchored with Holly Cunningham’s 9.725.

Now, the Cats will focus on their visit to Athens and finishing the three week stint of road meets away from Memorial Coliseum. Kentucky will meet #6 Georgia at 4 pm next Saturday. Georgia was defeated tonight after a 198.050-196.700 battle with the defending national champion Florida Gators in Gainesville. After they face Georgia, Kentucky will finally return home on February 7th to face Florida (who had back-to-back perfect 10’s tonight) at 7 pm in Memorial. Come out and cheer on the Cats to victory against the Gators!!!! It is sure to be an exciting meet.
