Our days of liking the New Orleans Pelicans are no more.
It wasn’t all that long ago when New Orleans had five former Kentucky Wildcats on its roster, often playing four of them on the floor at once during the 2017-18 season. But now things are completely different in the Pelicans locker room as the New Orleans roster has flipped to the dark side by including five former Duke players in 2019-20.
JJ Redick, one of the five Dukies, in addition to Frank Jackson, Jahlil Okafor, the newly-acquired Brandon Ingram and rookie phenom Zion Williamson, said New Orleans is now, “Duke South.” (Vomit.) “We may have an all-Duke team.”
Throw in former UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball and there are six villains in New Orleans, a franchise we rallied behind during its Anthony Davis era. Now we can only hope they lose every game.
There is one problem with that mindset, though: Darius Miller just re-signed with the Pelicans, a two-year deal worth $14.25 million, and WE LOVE DARIUS MILLER. Poor guy has to share a locker room and a team plane with that filth. It’s great that Miller is making it in the NBA and being paid well going into his eighth season as a professional, but we gotta get my man out of there.
We hate the Pelicans.
