We hate the Pelicans, right? (Sorry, Darius.)

Our days of liking the New Orleans Pelicans are no more.

It wasn’t all that long ago when New Orleans had five former Kentucky Wildcats on its roster, often playing four of them on the floor at once during the 2017-18 season. But now things are completely different in the Pelicans locker room as the New Orleans roster has flipped to the dark side by including five former Duke players in 2019-20.

JJ Redick, one of the five Dukies, in addition to Frank Jackson, Jahlil Okafor, the newly-acquired Brandon Ingram and rookie phenom Zion Williamson, said New Orleans is now, “Duke South.” (Vomit.) “We may have an all-Duke team.”

Throw in former UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball and there are six villains in New Orleans, a franchise we rallied behind during its Anthony Davis era. Now we can only hope they lose every game.

There is one problem with that mindset, though: Darius Miller just re-signed with the Pelicans, a two-year deal worth $14.25 million, and WE LOVE DARIUS MILLER. Poor guy has to share a locker room and a team plane with that filth. It’s great that Miller is making it in the NBA and being paid well going into his eighth season as a professional, but we gotta get my man out of there.

We hate the Pelicans.

Amen, they act like that just got way better because of Zion, but he’s no Anthony Davis.

I will always root for Darius. IMO, he was the glue to our 2012 championship team.

Darius won’t be there much longer. He’s a good enough 3pt shooter, somebody will snag him.

Yikes. They’re still one of the closest teams to me, distance-wise, and, unlike AD, I love the city and it’s culture. I’m going to stick it out, I guess. I hate most of those players, but with the state of the NBA and the dumpster fire that is the Pelicans, most of those guys will be gone in a year or so.

I didn’t like what AD did but I understand his desire to want to go somewhere that actually wants to win because these guys aren’t indestructible immortals so one bad day can end a career. He left because he felt the Pelicans didn’t care about and now this group just proves it.
