WATCH: Malik Monk Drills Game-Winner Against Pistons

(NBAE | Getty Images) No, this isn’t the shot.

All aboard the Malik Monk hype train! Seats are going FAST!

On Friday night, the former Kentucky guard drilled a fading-away, game-winning three-pointer to beat the Detroit Pistons.

With the game tied at 106, only one second left on the clock, and the Hornets inbounding the ball on the sideline, Cody Martin hit Monk with a pass at the top of the key that he knew exactly what to do with it

Take a look at it in all its glory.

Monk finished the game with 19 points and four rebounds.

I’ve been preaching it a lot in the BBNBA posts recently – Monk is taking the leap. I’ll have plenty more to talk about in regards to Monk, this shot, and his overall improvement in tomorrow’s recap. Stay tuned.

Wow nice shot!!!! Still one of my favorite players during the Cal era…. I honestly thought he would have made a quicker impact in the league… Glad to see him finding success in the league now… Hopefully that is the first of many in his career

What a great moment for him! Great shot. As a UK fan, it made me smile ear to ear to see PJ in that group hug attacking him.

Man, I love Malik Monk. I hope his hot streak continues and that he’s successful in the league for a long time. Oooo I got reminiscent of his game against UNC. That was a FUN game

He’s always been good when they give him minutes. He’s just hasn’t played much.
