With 21 total players in the NBA, Kentucky’s alumni face each other pretty frequently. However, two NBA teams have a particularly high concentration of UK talent: the Phoenix Suns (with 4 former Cats) and the Sacramento Kings (with 3). These squads squared off last night, and fittingly, Kentucky players dominated the box score.

For the Kings, Demarcus Cousins led all scores with 32 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. Rajon Rondo put up his usual bogus stat line with 15 points, 15 assists, and 6 rebounds, while Willie Cauley-Stein (who is returning from an injury) put up a solid 4 points and 5 rebounds in only 4 minutes.

Brandon Knight led the Suns with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Devin Booker – who started the game – tallied 21 points, 3 assists, and 4 steals. And finally, Archie Goodwin put up 3 points and 2 assists in 8 minutes.

Unfortunately, Eric Bledsoe couldn’t add to the UK contribution, as he is out for the season with a knee injury.

Still, this sounds like some sort of record. Have six Kentucky players ever played in the same NBA game before? Have six players from the same college in general ever done it?

Where’s Tony Reali when you need him?

Why was Rondo’s stat line “bogus?”
