A pair of former Kentucky Wildcats could end the NBA season with some new hardware.

Saturday afternoon the NBA announced finalists for the 2019-20 postseason awards. The Lakers’ Anthony Davis is competing against Rudy Gobert and Giannis Antetokounmpo for Defensive Player of the Year. Miami’s Bam Adebayo, Brandon Ingram and Luka Doncic are finalists for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award.

In his first year with the Lakers, Davis has averaged 26.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game to propel L.A. to the top seed in the West. On the defensive end he is stealing 1.3 passes per game and blocking 2.3 shots, more than any of the other finalists.

Adebayo has been one of the league’s biggest surprises. A first-time NBA All-Star this spring, Bam is averaging a double-double (16.1 ppg, 10.4 rpg.) and dishing out more than five assists per game. Thanks to Bam, the Heat are poised to be the Bucks’ greatest threat in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

There are two other plays with local ties that could be award winners. Former Murray State Racer Ja Morant is a lock to win Rookie of the Year, while former Louisville Cardinal Motrezl Harrell is a finalist for Sixth Man of the Year. For those keeping track at home, products of the Commonwealth account for more than 25% of the NBA Award finalists. Not too shabby.
