Anthony Davis confirmed Saturday night that he will participate in the skills challenge during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto. Davis will be joining DeMarcus Cousins and Karl Anthony-Towns who will participate in the event. Golden State Warrior’s Draymond Green will also participate.
This will be the first time the skills challenge will be dominated by frontcourt players instead of guards. The event is an obstacle course-style contest that tests passing, ball-handling and shooting ability.
The All-Star Weekend begins on Friday, Feb. 12 and the NBA All-Star game will be on Sunday, Feb. 14. John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis were all named as reserves for the game.
”I’m excited to represent New Orleans for third time in four years,” Davis said. ”Hopefully, this time I will get to play and play a lot more than I did my first selection. Just to be on the floor with other great players, it’s going to be fun.”
Towns and Nerlens Noel have been selected to represent the U.S. Team in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is rumored to be thinking about renaming the weekend Kentucky’s NBA All-Star Weekend. No comment yet on whether or not this rumor is true.
