With season eight of Game of Thrones officially underway, some fans a bit late to the party are trying to catch up on the last few episodes of the popular HBO show before watching live with everyone else.
One of those individuals? Former Kentucky point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
In an interview with The Ringer, Gilgeous-Alexander was asked the popular Game of Thrones question, “Who will sit on the Iron Throne when the show finally ends?”
SGA was quick to respond with who he’s cheering for and why he thinks they’re going to come out victorious in the end.
“I think Daenerys (Targaryen) will sit on the Iron Throne,” the former Wildcat said. “She has three dragons. There’s no beating that.”
The show’s producer, Jason Gallagher, apparently made a weird face, sparking SGA to quickly ask him why he had that reaction.
“Are you caught up?” Gallagher responded hesitantly.
“No, I have not finished the show,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “I said three?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah…” Gallagher said, hoping the Los Angeles Clippers guard didn’t catch the slip-up.
“Oh wow…” Gilgeous-Alexander said, putting the obvious clues together. “That’s f***ed up. That is f***ed up.”
“I’m so sorry…” Gallagher said. “Did anything ever get spoiled for you?”
“Yes, it just did,” SGA said. “I’m hurt.”

In The Ringer’s defense, season seven ended back in August of 2017, so Gilgeous-Alexander had nearly two years to catch up with everyone else. In fact, he told producers before the interview that he was caught up.
But goodness, that’s just heartbreaking.
