The Los Angeles Clippers have listed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as untouchable on the trade market

Former Kentucky guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made one heck of a first impression on the Los Angeles Clippers in his rookie season.

On Thursday’s edition of the Sedano Show, ESPN Front Office Insider Bobby Marks said that the Clippers are not willing to put Gilgeous-Alexander in any trade talks, not even for former Kentucky superstar Anthony Davis.

As a rookie, Gilgeous-Alexander started 73 games for the Clippers, averaging 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest with an effective field goal percentage of .512. While his numbers certainly aren’t too flashy, the former Kentucky guard helped lead a team that seemed destined for the lottery before the season to a 48-34 regular season record and a spot in the NBA Playoffs. When they got there, Gilgeous-Alexander played a major role in the Clippers pushing the Golden State Warriors to six games.

He may never be a perennial NBA All-Star in this league, but the former Wildcat proved he is capable of being a starting-caliber point guard for quite some time.

In terms of the Anthony Davis trade, the Clippers were on the former Wildcat’s original list of preferred destinations back in February, obviously giving Los Angeles something to think about when it comes to throwing their hat in the ring during trade discussions.

Without including SGA, though, the Clippers’ assets are slim-to-none, making it extremely difficult to pull off any trade for Davis.

While this news likely means Davis will not be playing for the Clippers next season, it’s certainly good news for Gilgeous-Alexander that his franchise thinks so highly of him after just one season.
