The Class of 2015 Makes it 25 Cats on 17 NBA Rosters

After last night’s draft it’s time once again to see how much closer are we to an all Kentucky NBA?  Here’s the current breakout of Cats on NBA rosters following last night’s draft:

Atlanta Hawks
Boston Celtics- James Young
Brooklyn Nets-
Charlotte Hornets- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Aaron Harrison
Chicago Bulls- Nazr Mohammed (Unrestricted Free Agent)
Cleveland Cavaliers
Dallas Mavericks- Rajon Rondo (Unrestricted Free Agent)
Denver Nuggets
Detroit Pistons- Jodie Meeks, Tayshaun Prince (Unrestricted Free Agent)
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets-Terrence Jones
Indiana Pacers
LA Clippers
LA Lakers- Julius Randle
Memphis Grizzlies- Andrew Harrison
Miami Heat
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timberwolves- Karl-Anthony Towns
New Orleans Pelicans- Anthony Davis
New York Knicks
Oklahoma City Thunder- Enes Kanter (Restricted), Dakari Johnson
Orlando Magic
Philadelphia Sixers- Nerlens Noel
Phoenix Suns- Eric Bledsoe, Archie Goodwin, Brandon Knight (Restricted), Devin Booker
Portland Trail Blazers
Sacramento Kings- DeMarcus Cousins, Willie Cauley Stein
San Antonio Spurs
Toronto Raptors- Chuck Hayes (Unrestricted Free Agent), Patrick Patterson
Utah Jazz- Trey Lyles
Washington Wizards- John Wall

Looking For a Spot:

Marquis Teague, Oklahoma City Blue: At only 22 years old Teague could still have a future in the NBA

Doron Lamb, Westchester Knicks. In March a wrist injury left Lamb sidelined. With the NBA placing a premium on shooting maybe Doron can find a spot for this summer.

Darius Miller: Fresh off a German championship don’t be shocked to see Darius back in the NBA this fall.

DeAndre Liggins: Last summer Liggins played for the Detroit Pistons during the  Orlando Summer League and the Los Angeles Clippers during Las Vegas Summer League but finished ’14-15 playing in Germany.

Daniel Orton, Idaho Stampede: 2014-15 was an up and down year for the big man D.O. Surely this coming year can’t be worse than getting the boot for making fun of Manny Pacquiao.

This time last year there were 15 teams so the Cats in the NBA are making some ground. Maybe it isn’t far-fetched to see and All-Star game made up of nearly all ExCats sometime in the next decade.

Yeah. It’s not like he practiced the whole year with the team, and dedicated his NBA Draft night to BBN. Get over yourself, nerd.

I’ve watched many Houston Rockets games over the past couple of years, paying particular attention to TJones , and you shouldn’t question his hustle any longer. Believe it or not, he hustled more than any player on both teams, comes up with loose balls, runs the floor, etc. He can put up big numbers as well, and in a hurry.

I don’t see him playing second fiddle or being traded out due to Montrezl Harrell.

I guess when Skal is ruled ineligible Cal will take credit for him getting drafted.

I salute Andrew Cassady for his fine research and hard work in coming up with this list of Cats in the NBA. But it is also important to note that the list comes from a accumulation of recruits by Coach Rick Pitino, Coach Tubby Smith, Coach Billy Gillispie, and Coach John Calipari. They all helped in supporting them where they are today.

One thing is for sure, Coach Cal looks like Superman as he continues to recruit…..And the best is yet to come.
