Terrence Jones goes back to the bench, for now

Terrence Jones has been outstanding for the Rockets this season but LaMarcus Aldridge is a matchup nightmare for the former Cat in the first round series with the Blazers. Aldridge torched Houston for 46 and 43 in the first two games of the series with Jones in the starting lineup, forcing Kevin McHale to go to the bigger Omer Asik in Game 3, Game 4 and again last night in Game 5. Houston won two of three with Asik in for Jones and cut the series to 3-2 at home last night.

Jones is still playing well off the pine, though, whenever he gets an opportunity. Last night he scored eight points with three assists and three rebounds in 22 minutes. He went 4-of-5 from the field and scored a clutch bucket after a Dwight Howard miss to extend Houston’s lead to seven with two minutes to go.

If the Rockets can somehow take the next two games and advance, Jones will likely get his spot back in the starting rotation. But for now, LaMarcus Aldridge is too much for him to handle on the defensive end.

Love Terrence, but he is the laziest player on the court at any given time. If his motor was better who would be an all star

Well, it’s obvious you haven’t been watching at all. He’s one of the few that actually DOES hustle.

We have arranged a meeting between Terrence and you two (Blue Virus and James K.) at a later date. We hope that you will share your thoughts with T.J. in person. I’m sure he will appreciate your constructive comments.

Have you guys seen how T Jones played this year for Houston in the NBA??? He has been playing really hard and has been a solid contributor for the during the season. He is by no means lazy if you actually watched him and saw how he performed. Please do not bad mouth our beloved wildcats if you have no idea how they have been doing in the NBA. We want all our players to succeed in the professional league, because they played and won games (and championships) for us. Have a little appreciation and keep your negative thoughts to your own sad self. Thank you.

Well said. And you are exactly right about Terrence; I’ve been very impressed watching him this year.

Yes. Watched every game that I could. He is 100% lazy.

Blue Virs – you are entitled to your opinion, but most of us would respectfully disagree. Perhaps after you hit the gym, got rid of your beer belly and had transformed your body into one better than that of “100% lazy T Jones” you can post it on here and prove to us that T Jones is indeed lazier than you. Have a blessed day.

Yeah, as a Rockets fan I’ve been shocked at how well he has played this year. I have to be honest I wasn’t too excited when they drafted him, but he’s really impressed me. It definitely turned out better than the Royce White pick.

TheLaw – totally agree with you man. He has been outright dominant on some nights. L Aldridge is just too long for Jones to defend in this playoff series.

For those have you who clearly hasn’t seen T Jones play this season, watch this video and be proud of him:

TJ has improved in every facet of the game. He’s on his way to being a long time quality NBA player. Much more than all of the haters running him down on here.

One thing I did notice was how positive TJones has remained even with him not starting now and how much he contributes when he gets a chance to play unlike Asik who demanded a trade when he was taken out of the starting line up earlier this season and disappeared for over 2 months claiming injury. TJones comes across as a man while Asik comes across as a spoiled brat.

Exactly. T Jones has always remained positive throughout his time at UK, even at times when it became beyond difficult because of the harsh criticisms (some fair, some not so much) he received from portions of our fan base, Calipari, and the media. Despite all the negativity, Jones has always carried himself with class and never bad mouthed anyone, which is more than what can be said about some of our fans.

Lmbo at folks calling him lazy. You are over scrutinizing him. Not everone is going to play defense with the same effort as Bruce Bowen on every play. That doesn’t make Jones lazy that makes him the average NBA defensive player.
