Skal Labissiere reportedly traded to Atlanta

Skal Labissiere is on the move again. According to Chris Haynes, the Portland Trail Blazers are sending Labissiere and $2 million to the Atlanta Hawks. A year ago, Labissiere was traded from the Kings to the Blazers for Caleb Swanigan. The former Cat was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 2016, but his rights were immediately traded to the Kings.

Skal is currently out with a left knee articular cartilage lesion. This season, he’s averaged 5.8 points and 5.1 rebounds in 17.2 minutes for the Trail Blazers, playing in 33 games. Halfway through his fourth season in the league, his career averages are 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Reminder: the NBA trade deadline is today at 3 p.m., so the craziness probably isn’t over yet.

Good for Skal. I never did like Portland for him. I just didn’t like the situation! The Hawks could use him anyway and maybe he’ll help them a few games. I hope all our kids that choose to come to Kentucky do well. Go Cats

I thought you couldn’t trade a hurt player. I guess its only if they’re officially on IR (is he?). Idk. Maybe (probably) I’m completely wrong. Seems weird to trade for a hurt player later in the season. Must just be about finances.
