Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sets NBA record

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hasn’t played a single game in the NBA and he is already in the NBA record books.

The former Wildcat point guard, the 11th overall pick in this past draft, has the longest last name in NBA history. With 18 characters including the hyphen, Gilgeous-Alexander took the record from Hornets point guard Michael Carter-Williams.

Other notable and current NBA last names include Antetokounmpo (13), Caldwell-Pope (13) and Kidd-Gilchrist (14).

It’ll take a small font to get Shai’s name on his new Clippers jersey:
