After DeMarcus Cousins’ early season tirade, Sacramento’s Suicide Squad is starting to figure things out. They’ve been winning games and getting along with George Karl, with much of the improvement credited to Rajon Rondo.
Rondo’s received his fair share of criticism over the years for his attitude, and more recently for his declining skills, but both are being debunked in Sacramento. He’s averaging an NBA-best 10.7 assists per game, 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 steals. In a Yahoo! report, DeMarcus discusses the difference in the locker room with Rondo by his side.
“The way we compete and the type of competitors we are, it’s hard for us not to get along,” Cousins said of Rondo. “We damn near think alike all the time. I’m soaking in all I can. He’s a champion. I basically look up to him.”
Rondo’s contract ends at the end of the year, but Cousins told Marc Spears he isn’t letting him go. “He ain’t going nowhere. I will kidnap him myself,” Cousins said.
I like what Cousins and Rondo are cooking for the Kings, one can only hope that it can last.
