Reports suggest DeMarcus Cousins could re-join Anthony Davis with L.A. Lakers

News broke Saturday that the Houston Rockets and DeMarcus Cousins would be parting ways, according to Shams Charania. It’s a sad breakup and another bump on a rocky road for Boogie since his injuries in New Orleans. It also means that the feel-good story of John Wall and Cousins’ reunion is officially dead after just a couple of months.
However, the parting did appear to be mutual and Boogie will have several teams looking to add the former two-time All-NBA center, and it’s likely a contender picks him up. Shams praised Boogie in his tweets and some of his “sources” applauded how he handled the difficult situation:
Cousins has showed he’s healthy and impactful this season. He’s averaged 9.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in 25 games. Sources have expressed positive feedback about Cousins’ professionalism and play during his time in Houston. https://t.co/jWLQpXsrwS

Almost immediately, rumors swirled about him potentially joining the team that signed him last season: The Los Angeles Lakers. According to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, a return to L.A. to team up with Anthony Davis for the third time is on the table.
Sources: The Lakers will be among the teams to pursue DeMarcus Cousins.
The market will be limited for Cousins, sources say. He has struggled this year after returning from multiple major injuries. But for LA or any team in need of big man depth, few options bring higher upside.

KOC says there won’t be very many teams that pursue Cousins, but the defending champions have expressed interest. With Anthony Davis sidelined for the foreseeable future due to scary Achilles issues, bringing in another former ‘Cat to plug the void makes sense.
He had the greatest season of his life cut short in 2017 when he and Davis finally had a winner in New Orleans then signed with quite possibly the greatest basketball team of all time in the Durant-era Warriors, but missed most of the playoffs with a quad injury. Last year he signed with the eventual champion Lakers but tore his ACL before the season even started and was cut 10 months before they chopped down the nets in Orlando.
It’s been a rough go for Boogie lately but perhaps he can find a role on the current favorites to win the title, playing next to LeBron James and (hopefully soon) Anthony Davis.

What the hell was Houston thinking?
He’s too old, slow, and not multi dimensional enough for what they, and most of the nba, are going to keep trying to do. The traditional 5 is dead in the water in the league and that sucks for boogie because he’s certainly an extremely gifted player and one of my favorite UK guys all time. Injuries and the inability to stretch out defenses and go 100 mph all game, every game is what is hurting him.
He’s not a traditional 5…..
He was only a traditional 5 in college..
I wonder if LA would just chop him again once AD is healthy
I think it’s best for both. Boogie likely wanted a shot to play for a contender and Houston is in full rebuild mode and would rather invest in their younger players
