We might just crown a 2020 NBA Champion after all.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, members of both the NBA and National Basketball Players Association came out of a conference call on Tuesday feeling “increasingly positive about the league’s momentum toward a resumption of play this season.”
Reports have been surfacing all over the place about meetings that took place on Monday and Tuesday between the two sides. The league has been having discussions on how they should go about resuming the season and The Athletic‘s Shams Charania reported that NBA commissioner Adam Silver is targeting a decision date that has been set “2-4 weeks” from now. Former Wildcat Anthony Davis was one of the players included by the president of the NBPA, Chris Paul, to participate in the conference call with league officials.
NBA and Adam Silver targeting a season decision in 2-to-4 weeks comes after Silver told players Friday it can go into June. Now — for first time since the coronavirus stoppage started on March 11 — a specific timeframe. https://t.co/TArbVNpxCZ

This is the most noteworthy news the NBA has announced since suspending the season back on March 11. A “bubble” environment is going to happen, most likely in Las Vegas (Western Conference teams) and Orlando’s Walt Disney World (Eastern Conference teams), and Woj also reports that the NBA will not shut down the league if another player tests positive for the coronavirus.
“Silver told those on the call that if a positive test would ‘shut us down, we probably shouldn’t go down this path.'” Wojnarowski wrote.
Testing is still going to be key in ensuring the heathy of every involved and Woj reports that the league is not optimistic that they rapid-responses testing available within the next month. Whether or not the NBA will be able to acquire the amount they need is still unknown. There is no definitive answer quite yet on if the remaining regular seasons will be played, or if the league decides to start back up with the playoffs.
We’ll know soon enough.
