After only three days and two games in the NBA Development League with the Bakersfield Jam, former Wildcat Archie Goodwin was recalled by the Phoenix Suns Sunday afternoon.

Goodwin, 19, saw a dip in playing time over the month of January after the Suns brought back NBA veteran Leandro Barbosa for a second stint with the franchise. On January 23, Phoenix assigned Archie to their D-League affiliate, the Bakersfield Jam, for a two-game weekend assignment to keep the game juices flowing.

It was with this opportunity for playing time that Archie reminded fans why he was a top 15 recruit coming out of high school and a first round selection in last June’s NBA Draft. In his first game Friday night, Goodwin scored 32 points (including 15 points in 18 attempts from the free throw line), grabbed 8 rebounds, and recorded 2 steals in a 96-114 loss to the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The next day, in a 98-122 loss to the Reno Bighorns, Archie scored 27 points, pulled down 4 rebounds, and dished out 2 assists.

That’s a 29.5 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 1.5 APG, and 1.5 SPG stat line.

Hopefully, the successful stint in Bakersfield will provide Arch with more opportunities now that he is back with the Suns. Make ’em eat they feet.
