Nerlens Noel took Kelly Melton to the Derby again

@max_strong44

In what is becoming one of my favorite traditions, Nerlens Noel took Kelly Melton to the Kentucky Derby again on Saturday. Nerlens and Kelly, a 9-year-old fan with leukemia, became friends during Nerlens’ time at UK, and for the past three Derbys, Kelly has been Nerlens’ guest.

This year, cn|2 caught up with Nerlens and Kelly on the red carpet, and the video is pretty adorable:

Kelly is also close with several other Kentucky athletes, including Max Strong, Landon Foster, and Marcus Lee. Even though Kelly says he can’t come to next year’s Derby, here’s hoping he can find a way to make it happen.

    it is really cool that Nerlens continues to do this after his time at UK. he could take anyone he wants with him to an event like this, but he chooses to take a young, sick child… these stories are really awesome.
