Mike Marra destroyed a guy at the rim and I can’t stop watching it

Mike Marra never reached his full potential at the University of Louisville, where he played three seasons before his career was cut short after back-to-back knee injuries. However, those knees appear to be in good shape today, if this Vine is any indication of how he is doing.

Watch Marra, who Rick Pitino once called “the best shooter he’s ever seen in his life,” absolutely demolish some poor soul on a fast break. We do our best to avoid shining a positive light on anything Louisville, but this dunk deserves the entire internet’s attention.

Now that you’ve seen it, I have two questions:

(1) Did anyone think he was going to windmill that? I sure didn’t. HELLO.

(2) What was my man in the blue thinking he was going to do? Lil’ buddy couldn’t jump over the Middlesboro phonebook. And I love how he shuffles his feet to time his jump for the block attempt.

If only #4 could actually jump…he barely touched the net.

Well, I think a lot of D1 guys could pull off a windmill dunk….IN A CHURCH LEAGUE GAME. I mean, seriously…who is he playing with/against??

  4. Nice dunk and all, but it doesn’t exactly look like D1 competition. It looks like he’s dunking over someone in a Y or church league game.

Are they up by nine, or down by nine? Home wears white, usually.

I did a John Wall behind the back and dunk over two dudes in a church tournament in Lexington one time around 1997-98.

    Bad fundamentals by both players:

    1) The offensive player catches the ball with one hand. A TERRIBLE fundamental.
    2) The defensive player HAD time to get in position in the lane to prevent a dunk attempt from that angle. If I had been the defender, he would have had to pull up and take a 6-8 footer, or he would have charged into me , or I probably would have fouled him if I wasn’t in foul trouble. But the point is the defender’s ill-conceived stutter steps didn’t help him, they slowed him down. He should have just gotten into position like a smart player does and protected the paint and basket. Basketball 101, which sadly 99% players don’t have the dedication to adhere to, except if their coach requires it of them.

Jump and jump less , what a waste of footage.

Much ado about NOTHING. Get a grip Drew, walk away and take a deep breathe. It may be in the top 5 dunks you’ve ever seen and we’re all glad you like it, but seriously, it doesn’t even make the top 100,000 list.

I actually think the dude in the blue made a pretty good effort–his hand is about at rim level. He got a little height on his jump and he must be a decent shot blocker because anyone who tries to square-up a block like that on a fast-break has done it before. Or has no idea of their skill level and is an idiot. But I’m going with the former.

    1) totally awesome windmill dunk!
    2) absolutely loved the foot shuffle to time the block attempt.
