LOOK: Best Mother’s Day messages from across the BBN

It’s Mother’s Day, and plenty of members of the BBN are making sure to give their moms a proper social media shoutout. The Calipari family treated Ellen to roses and breakfast in bed Sunday morning, but Brad isn’t the only former Cat praising his mom online.

Here are a few more of the day’s special tributes:

The UK football team put out this video, which includes messages from several players and coaches:

The Big Dawg Vince Marrow posted his own note:

BamThe Boss?Adebayo posted this photo with his mom on Instagram:

Josh Allen shared several pictures of his wife, Kaitlyn Morrison-Allen, and their two adorable children.

Allen’s former teammate, Benny Snell, posted a picture on his Instagram story with his mom from his UK days:

Nick Richards shared an old family photo, and he even explained why he chose his jersey number:

Former UK Hoops star and Bell County native Maci Morris posted several photos of the important women in her life, including one pictures with two BBN moms! Current Wildcat Blair Green is from nearby Harlan County.

KSR’s own Nick Roush (who’s sporting some newly-found dad strength himself) wrote this tribute to the ladies in his life, and other members of the KSR family wished the BBN a happy Mother’s Day:

Of course, this day is also hard on a lot of people, including two of the BBN’s all-time favorites. John Wall and KarlAnthony Towns both recently lost their mothers. Towns’ mom, Jacqueline Cruz, passed away in April after a hard-fought battle with COVID-19. Towns shared this emotional video on Instagram on Sunday:

He also posted this screenshot of their text conversation last Christmas.

Wall posted this touching video to pay tribute to his mom, Frances Pulley, who passed away last December after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Enes Kanter also delivered a powerful message this Mother’s Day. The former Cat hasn’t been able to see or speak with his family in six years because of his public disagreement with the Turkish government. Kanter has been a longtime supporter of Fethullah Gulen, a cleric blamed for a failed coup of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2016. In 2019, Turkish prosecutors sought an international arrest warrant for Kanter.

Kanter’s public struggles with his home country pushed his family to publicly disown him out of fear for their own safety. He has just one picture of his mom on his phone, which he calls “the most-precious thing in my life right now.” He says he especially loves looking at it after his games, when his teammates leave the court to talk to their families in the stands. He’s never had the luxury.

“I hope you’re proud of me,” Kanter says in the video. “I know I did this to our family, but I have to do this because I am trying to stand up for democracy, freedom and human rights.”

Our thoughts are with Wall, Towns, Kanter and everyone else who may be struggling this Mother’s Day. Hug the ladies in your life a little tighter today.

God love their hearts. It brought tears to my eyes watching all those videos. These guys are still young men and losing your Mother hurts no matter how old you are, but being so young is so sad. You guys hang in there and just know all of us in the Big Blue Nation loves you and prays for you.
