Link of the Day: ‘The Ringer’ calls Gilgeous-Alexander the face of OKC

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the face of the Oklahoma City Thunder?

The Ringer says so.

In a new piece that Kentucky fans will find delightful, Jonathan Tjarks says the Thunder may already have their next face of the franchise and it is the newly-acquired Gilgeous-Alexander.

“Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, fresh off a great rookie season for the Clippers, is one of the most talented players in the NBA,” Tjarks writes. “The Westbrook era is officially over, and SGA has the skills to become the new face of the franchise in Oklahoma City.”

Tjarks believes Gilgeous-Alexander’s size at his position and his basketball IQ make him an intriguing prospect, and that Chris Paul, who will start at point guard this coming season, will not get in the way of Gilgeous-Alexander’s development. They will work together, even complementing each other in some ways, he writes.

Do you think that would be from a scoring perspective, an assist perspective or just in general running a team? You know how the analysts at the NBA draft will pick a current or past NBA player Who somewhat compares to the player just drafted? If you think SGA will be an all star, is there anyone that you can point to whose game is or was similar?

I think from a basketball player level standpoint we could see him emulate Jason Kidd.
