Las Vegas Summer League Preliminary Round Recap

ulis-booker

Each team’s three-game preliminary round is in the books out in Las Vegas and today marks the beginning of the tournament portion of the showcase. (That bracket can be seen here.)

The Wildcat contingent played well, for the most part, through the first five games; led by Trey Lyles and Devin Booker as the league’s stars. We also saw big games from the three rookies, while Andrew Harrison played his way into a three-year deal with Memphis.

A complete game-by-game recap of the Kentucky alums can be found below. (Note: Trey Lyles and James Young were only available for two games in Vegas due to an overlapping with the Utah league.)

Drew, thanks for the write up. However, Ulis did not have any turnovers in the 2nd game. Thus far he only has 2 turnovers through 3 games.

Anybody that seen young play knew he wasnt anywhere close to being ready for the n.b.a I love cal, but how on earth do you let that kid make that mistake..

Bill Simmons thought Young was a great pick on draft night…

I don’t think we get Booker if Young would’ve came back….which makes you wonder if we would’ve lost out on Ullis too. For us, worked out pretty well.

Curtis Lowe, what was Cal going to do? Lock Young in his room at Wildcat Lodge and refuse to let him enter the draft? Cal advises his players, but they are big boys who make their own decisions.

Man Jamal Murray was pretty cold. Sort of how finished the season for us. Hopefully he’ll find his shot again soon.

Patrick liked BCG better than Coach Cal. Drew probably knows this.
