Kings’ GM says Boogie is Staying in Sacramento

Just over two weeks away from the NBA trade deadline, speculation surrounding Boogie’s future in Sacramento (or lack thereof) has spread across the country.  Some of those rumors are enticing for UK fans, like bringing Boogie to Phoenix, but Kings’ General Manager Vlade Divac said Cousins will stay in Sacramento.

“We’re not trading DeMarcus,” Divac told ESPN. “We hope he’s here for a long time.”

Instead, Cousins will get a paycheck worth approximately $219 million to stay in Sacramento for five more years.  Even though he’s never been to the playoffs in six seasons, Cousins still wants to be a King.  For more than $40 million a year, I can’t say I blame him.

I know it’s probably not happening, but I would kill to see the Kings do a sign-and-trade with Boogie. Trade him for a bunch of draft picks, tank, and rebuild. There’s no point in them paying him over $200mil to keep them out of the bottom five teams in the league.
