Karl-Anthony Towns backs Stephen Jackson in George Floyd press conference

Former NBA star Stephen Jackson held a press conference today in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in support of George Floyd, his childhood friend who was murdered by a police officer earlier this week. Jackson and Floyd grew up together outside of Houston, and Jackson has referred to Floyd as his “twin” due to the close nature of their friendship and an uncanny resemblance they shared.

Jackson’s Friday press conference was to defend Floyd’s name and to raise even more awareness around the heinous crime that took his friend’s life. Jackson was surrounded by other well-known people, including Jamie Foxx and one of our favorite people on the entire planet, former Kentucky basketball star Karl-Anthony Towns.

I’ll remind you: Towns lost his mother — his sweet, sweet and supportive mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns — to the coronavirus last month. Now he’s standing up for what’s right in his new hometown, Minneapolis, because he recognizes his impact on the community and knows it is important to force change.

The strength on this guy is unbelievable.

Karl is a beautiful human being and his late mother and his father raised him right. If anyone comes here to say anything negative about his presence at that press conference, please kindly eff off instead.

KAT isn’t the best player we’ve ever had, but he may be the best person to ever rock the blue and white!

Hopefully they expressed the desire for people not to burn buildings and loot businesses as that doesnt really serve a purpose for justice…

I wasn’t sure what to expect in the comment section. A black person standing up (or kneeling) for what’s right deserves this kind of support, but experience shows it doesn’t go over well with a certain segment of the white population. Happy not to hear those voices today.

I completely stand with KAT on this! It is the right thing to do and the right way to do it! He is using his own time and presence to make a difference and that is very commendable. He not doing it at work on his employer’s dime and time like KAP was.
