Julius Randle Impresses in Scrimmage

The Los Angeles Lakers held a scrimmage today, with Randle joining the ‘first team’ and impressive. Randle played alongside D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Tarik Black and Anthony Brown, which squared off against every other player the Lakers invited in to camp.

The biggest takeaways from the scrimmage is the fact Randle could be played as a stretch four this year and the improvement of his strength and conditioning. Eric Pincus at tweeted out that while Randle’s range is 15-17 feet, his feet aren’t quick enough to guard small forwards in the NBA. It’s likely going to be a transition year for Randle to work on that part of his game, but in the meantime what we saw out of Randle at Kentucky is still shining in Los Angeles. Pincus said “Randle in scrimmage today – his brute strength is what stands out”

Another reporter for the Lakers, Mike Brenshan said Randle has dropped 15-20 pounds so far this offseason. While it’s just a scrimmage, this is great news from the West coast, for a kid who suffered terrible luck last season.

Sadly to say, Randle doesn’t have a motor, does a lot of loafing and plays when he is in the mood!

Right, he only averaged a double double at UK while getting double and triple teamed. How lazy.
