It never gets old seeing former Wildcats back in their “second home” of Lexington, Kentucky.

Here is just another case of a former Kentucky player and current NBA player, coming home to give back to the community. Show this to a Calipari/one-and-done hater.

Katherine Bennett of Lexington, KY, received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity last night to have dinner with Kentucky favorite and current Los Angeles Laker, Julius Randle.

After winning a contest through The Pepsi Company, Katherine brought three other guests – her two sisters and brother -to a meet-and-greet, Q&A session, and dinner at Sal’s on Tates Creek Road with Julius Randle.

“The food was awesome obviously. He was so smart and well-spoken. He came around and shook every single persons hand at the end. Just a really nice guy.”

Katherine’s sister and dinner guest, Caroline Bennett, is a basketball player herself. The junior starting forward for the Lafayette Generals said,

“Julius was not only a respectable person and player before I met him, he was a legend. When he walked in, he lit up the room. He’s just a normal person and is so nice. He made sure to tell us his goal isn’t met yet & he specifically told the kids never to settle. To set your goal, and work as hard as you can to get there. Don’t give up.”

Of course Randle was asked about the BBN. Do Lakers fans compare to Kentucky’s fans?

His answer was “No one compares to Kentucky’s fans. UK and Los Angeles are two of the biggest basketball programs in the world. The Lakers fandom doesn’t even come close to Kentucky fanaticism.”

Caroline’s final thoughts on the whole experience:

“All the reality TV shows make it seem like all the NBA players are bad people. I’m 100% positive Julius Randle is an honest, generous, and caring person. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I am forever grateful.”

Calipari consistently brings in high-character young men. Julius Randle, and many others, continue to brighten lives as ambassadors of the University of Kentucky.
