John Wall drinks two large hot chocolates every day

While his teammates are hydrating with water, Gatorade, or other drinks before games, John Wall prefers something sweeter. Wall told the Washington Post’s Dave Steinberg that he drinks at least two large McDonald’s hot chocolates every single day. With extra sugar.

“I’ve been doing this since I was little,” he said after Wizards practice on Thursday. “Even in the summer time when it be hot as hell, I’ll be still drinking it.”

Wall says he has one in the morning and one before games, or if there isn’t a game, at least two on the way home from practice. Why hot chocolate, specifically McDonald’s?

“I don’t know. It’s just good to me,” Wall said, adding that he started the habit while in grade school. “Some people use coffee and Red Bull. This just gets me ready.”

Whatever the reason, it’s working. Wall’s having his best season yet as a pro, and the Wizards are in the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

I smell an endorsement deal…

That is funny. One time, while he was at UK, I was at Tolly Ho with some friends, around 10pm on a weeknight, and he came in with Demarcus Cousins and ordered two hot chocolates. I have a pic with him to prove it haha.

Used to play ball with a guy that drank chocolate milk during the game. It be 90 outside, sweating like hogs, everybody else is swigging water or gatorade, he would always keep with him a gallon jug of chocolate milk.

Athletes paid this much and who want to operate at peak efficiency should be educated in diet (whole food plant-based diet is best) and flexibility and mindfulness training (yoga).

what he’s doing is working fine (for now). If he’s still doing this when he’s 45 and not working out everyday, he may have some issues.
