Jarred Vanderbilt reportedly traded to Minnesota

With the NBA trade deadline coming up on Thursday, a former Wildcat is on the move. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Jarred Vanderbilt has been traded from the Denver Nuggets to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he will join Karl Towns. The trade is part of a four-team, multi-player deal between the Nuggets, the Timberwolves, the Houston Rockets, and the Atlanta Hawks.

So far this season, Vanderbilt has played in eight games for the Nuggets, averaging 1.0 points and 0.6 rebounds in 4.3 minutes. He’s spent the majority of the season with the Windy City Bulls in the G-League, averaging 14.2 points and 8.5 rebounds in 25.7 minutes.

From a development standpoint, I would agree. But Vanderbilt was injured from Day 1 here, and has missed a fair amount of time in the NBA with injuries. So it looks like it was the smart move to go ahead and get paid while he could.

At least Jared was drafted and has been kept on an NBA roster = $$$…neither of which will happen for Whitney. Plus, you have to admit…Vanderbilt is living the life of an NBA player, getting paid millions, and only having to play 1 out of every 5 games for about 10 minutes…that is a pretty sweet deal.

This is an example of the type of negativity that gives our fan base the type of negative reputation that’s used against us in recruiting. He’s spent more semesters on UK’s campus than 87% of the fan base, and somehow he’s not a Cat because he left early for a better career opportunity? Some of y’all are truly ridiculous!

Now, don’t go using common sense around here, MSBlue. Don’t you know some of our fans have to bash others to feel better about themselves.
