Kentucky’s 2009-10 dynamic duo will be back together in New Orleans. John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins will be All-Star reserves, joining former Cat Anthony Davis.
It’s Wall’s fourth All-Star appearance in six NBA seasons. This year he’s led the ‘Zards to fifth-place in the Eastern Conference by averaging a career-high 23.1 points and 4.6 rebounds. He’s third in the NBA in assists with 10.1 a game and second in steals with 2.23 a game.
Cousins is fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 28 points per contest. Now a three time All-Star, this season Cousins averages 10.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. As of today, the Kings sit just one and a half games back from the eight-spot in the Western Conference.
The most noticeable All-Star snub is Karl-Anthony Towns, who’s third in the league in double-doubles with 34. Eric Bledsoe is another former Cat who came up just short from making his first All-Star appearance. Still, Kentucky is the only school with more than two All-Stars.
NBA All-Star weekend is February 17-19.
