Isaiah Briscoe Saves his Best for Last in Utah Summer League

Sixers.com

Just like his team, Isaiah Briscoe did not get going until the final day of the Utah Summer League.  In just 12 minutes Briscoe made 5-of-7 shots to finish with 12 points.  He added 2 assists and 2 steals to his final stat column to help the Sixers defeat the Spurs 94-86, their first victory of the summer.

Briscoe played 14 minutes in his first summer league game, but did not score.  Last night he never left the bench.  Tonight Briscoe looked like a completely different person, consistently finishing through traffic.

This contested step-back three just ahead of the shot-clock from Briscoe looks unlike anything we saw from him during his time at UK.

He made sure to get his former teammate involved, finding Alex Poythress for the finish at the rim.

Poythress has flirted with a double-double every night for the Sixers, except tonight.  He scored Philly’s first bucket of the game, but was forced to temporarily leave the game after tweaking his hamstring.  He still finished with 9 points, a rebound and an assist.

Poythress’ two-time Final Four teammate Aaron Harrison had 3 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in 11 minutes of action for the Sixers.  This step-back brought back fond memories.

Philadelphia’s Kentucky trio will return the NBA Summer League floor Saturday night at 10:30 against the Golden State Warriors in Las Vegas.
