The Summer League just got a little awkward for Alex Poythress. According to Keith Smith, hours before Poythress’ opening game with the Indiana Pacers, the club waived him to help make room for free agent Kyle O’Quinn, ending his two-way contract. Had he not been waived before July 25, Alex’s $1.54 million salary for the 2018-19 season would have been fully guaranteed.
Poythress will continue to play for the Pacers in the Summer League in hopes of landing a training camp deal with another team. He finished today’s game vs. the Rockets with 13 points (5-11 FG), 4 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. This slam is classic Alex:
