When the clock strikes midnight in two hours and the month of July begins, it will start the free-for-all we call “NBA Free Agency.” While the eyes of most talking heads will be on Kevin Durant, you should keep your eyes out for a few former Wildcats.
The Wildcat with the most on the line is Terrence Jones. The Rockets opted not to keep Jones on for a fifth year, going with Donatas Motiejunas instead. Jones will be an unrestricted free agent after dropping below double digits, averaging only 8 points a game in 2016. Jones is young (24) with plenty to offer to a new team, but a few other vets could struggle to find spots.
Wildcat Free Agents (Previous Team)
- Tayshaun Prince (Timberwolves)
- Nazr Mohammed (Thunder)
- Rajon Rondo (Kings)
Rondo’s case is the most curious. He was written off in Dallas after butting heads with pretty much everyone in the organization, but his career was reignited last year in Sacramento. Boogie wants him back, but you never know what Rondo’s gonna do. You also don’t know how many teams would be willing to take a chance on the enigmatic all-star.
