Dwane Casey Fired by the Toronto Raptors

Two days ago Dwane Casey was named NBA Coach of the Year.  Today he was fired by the Toronto Raptors.

The one-seed in the Eastern Conference, the Raptors won a franchise-record 59 games this season.  Over the last seven seasons he took Toronto to one Eastern Conference Finals and led them to a 320-238 record.

Casey’s only problem: he could not beat LeBron.

The Raptors have been eliminated in the playoffs by the Cavaliers for three straight seasons.  Instead of changing the roster, the Raptors will make a change on the sidelines.  The former Kentucky Wildcat National Champion is looking for a new job, and I have a feeling it won’t take him long to find one.

What are the odds of Dewayne and UK hooking up for a 1 year Asst. Coach gig?

I think he was banned for life by the NCAA for his involvement in our 80s scandal. He was certainly one of the biggest (if not THE BIGGEST) scapegoats that had to bare the burnt of the blame.

He could come back…the NCAA retracted the 5-year show cause after it became clear that he had nothing to do with the Emery Package and Emery settled with him in a large cash payment.

Dwayne is older than Cal and probably would not do it, but if Cal all the sudden decided today that he was stepping in, I would hope the former players and influential people would tell Barney Dwayne is the next man up.

Derozan and Lowry aren’t mega stars. That is the raptors problem. They are good players, but not at the same level as LeBron, Durant, harden, AD, Kyrie, etc.

Casey’s show cause was rescinded by the NCAA due to no evidence that he was the sender. Emery also had to cough up around 7 mil to Casey for defamation of character.
