The news we feared appears to be true.
Shortly after the start of the Golden State Warriors’ second playoff game, DeMarcus Cousins went down with a left quad injury. Cousins will undergo an MRI, but according to Yahoo’s Chris Haynes, the Warriors expect him to miss the remainder of the postseason.
There is one caveat. Haynes said, “there’s faint optimism that he could possibly return for the NBA Finals.”
Google tells me a strained quad takes about six weeks to heal. The Finals begins just over six weeks from now on May 31. However, if the quad was completely torn and requires surgery, that kind of recovery takes up to four to six months.
This stinks. There’s no other way to put it.
