With NBA free agency kicking off in a few hours there has been an enormous amount of speculation where stars will end up, especially for Demarcus Cousins who will become an unrestricted free agent at midnight.
Cousins joined The Pelicans after the all-star break in 2017, but an Achilles tear last year sidelined him for the remainder of the year after 48 games.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that DeMarcus Cousins is likely to re-sign with New Orleans. Through 48 games last year Cousins averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds alongside MVP candidate and fellow Wildcat Anthony Davis.
This report comes as a bit of a surprise after the Wizards shipped Martin Gortat to the Clippers, seemingly to set up a way to get Boogie to reunite with John Wall in Washington. While it’s not confirmed that Cousins is staying with New Orleans, it’s a real possibility that he could play somewhere else as the Pelicans played unreal last season without him, sweeping the Blazers in the Playoffs and having Anthony Davis put up an MVP type season last year.
I am curious to see how Cousins will play following a torn Achilles as we’ve seen it be very detrimental to NBA careers like Kobe Bryant, Brandon Jennings, Chauncey Billups, and Elton Brand. Hopefully, Boogie can play to his maximum ability.
Amongst all the speculation it looks like Boogie will stay alongside Anthony Davis, Rajon Rondo, Darius Miller, and DeAndre Liggins as Cats in The Big Easy.
