DeMarcus Cousins fouls out, but Team USA is going to the finals

© Jeffrey Swinger

Team USA advanced to the gold medal game with a 82-76 win over Spain this afternoon, but they did it in large part without the help of DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins fouled out with two points and three rebounds in ten minutes of action, a major step down from his 9.7 points per game average. Here’s his lone basket:

DeAndre Jordan started in Boogie’s place for the second game in a row and finished with 9 points and 16 rebounds, including a huge putback slam that got Boogie out of his seat:

Team USA will face the winner of Australia/Serbia Sunday at 2:45 p.m. Today may have been a rough outing for Boogie, but at least he’s guaranteed a medal.

HOW can a dominant player like him play so little? The answer is the UK hater coaching the team. He would rather lose than let a UK player star in what he does best.

He plays so little because he’s an SOB with an ego problem. No surprise at all he fouled out.

How did the Louisville players do?

A little help for the slow, dull-witted, and feeble-minded: the opposing players were from Spain. Therefore, they are not “[sic] unathletic white guys”, they are Spaniards with very diverse ethnic backgrounds.

Also, their two centers (Gasol, Mirotic) play in the NBA, which is more than UL has in the entire league.

Let’s face it guys…Boogie is limited in many ways. His most glaring deficiency is his motor. He simply doesn’t play hard all the time. A close second would be his lack of athleticism…and I am not referring to his strength. He has about as much of a vertical jump as I do, and his conditioning forever seems to be suspect. I can easily foresee this being his only chance in the Olympics. KAT and AD and others will be better options for Team USA in the future at center. If Jordan could make a free-throw and had any sort of offensive game, I doubt DC would have played nearly as much. Don’t get me wrong…I like the guy and think he gets a bad rap for his attitude, but he is not really an alpha dog. I wish he had gone to a team with a better superstar already in place. He would make a great #2 or #3 option on an NBA team….but Sacramento will never do anything with him as the main guy.
