It’s been a tough couple of weeks for DeMarcus Cousins. This morning, the Sacramento Kings issued a “substantial fine” to Boogie for his tirade at a reporter last week for mentioning his brother, Jaleel’s, involvement in an incident at a nightclub in May that led to Jaleel’s arrest. It’s the latest in a line of incidents between Boogie and the media, and the Kings say if Cousins keeps it up, they’ll consider further discipline.
The video of the exchange is hard to watch and Boogie needs to keep his temper in check, but I will agree that the reporter from the Sacramento Bee was out of line bringing up his family. While the front office fined him, Kings head coach Dave Joerger stood up for DeMarcus, calling the Bee‘s tactics “ridiculous,” lamenting how the paper listed personal details about his own family in an article about him buying a house.
Devin Booker even chimed in on issue:
Don't talk about somebody's family then be surprised when they confront you.

I hate that all this bad press distracts from the good stuff Cousins does for the community, such as his annual “Santa Cuz” shopping spree for underprivileged children in Sacramento:

My Christmas wish this year? Let there be peace in Sacramento, or let Boogie peace out.
