DeMarcus Cousins Explains his Draft Night Tweet

demarcus-cousins ngngsports

During last week’s NBA Draft, DeMarcus Cousins took to Twitter after the Kings made a late move.  Sacramento traded away their 8th pick to select a 7-foot Greek center, Georgios Papagiannis, at No. 13.  Boogie didn’t seem to happy to be joined by Papagiorgio.

Boogie is a big fan of cryptic Tweets, leading many critics to see this as the beginning of the end for Cousins in Sacramento, however, he says the Tweet wasn’t attached with a double-meaning.

“Bad timing,” he told Ian Begley of ESPN New York. “It sounds ridiculous, but I was in a hot sculpting class.”

Even though Boogie’s been a fan of hot yoga in the offseason, I don’t think anybody’s buying this excuse.  If you’re going to buy anything of Boogie’s, buy a Team USA jersey.  It should last longer than his time in Sacramento.

I think, of all people, UK fans should at least do some digging before we write off Boogie’s excuse.

His tweet says 9:13, what time did Sacramento make that trade at #8? Then what time did Sac pick Papagiannis at #13? Last, what time did Sac trade/get the #22 Pick (not a bad one) and trade/get #28 pick (also not a bad one as it was Skal)? The Papagiannis one was the real headscratcher. If the Papa deal happened just before 9:13 PM, then Boogie’s probably making bogus excuses. If it happened way before or after, then maybe he’s being for real. Granted, it sounds like a made-up excuse from afar, but I think we should at least see if it has some potential validity before we write it off as being bogus (like everyone else in the media has).
