Dakari Johnson is breaking records in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Playing overseas for the CBA’s Qingdao Eagles, the one-time Kentucky Wildcat center has become a dominating figure at China’s top-level. On Thursday, Johnson recorded a wild stat line that consisted of 27 points, 24 rebounds, 10 (!) blocks, and seven assists in a 103-94 win over the Shanxi Loongs–the first player in CBA history to put up those type of figures in a single game. He was named the Interperformances Player of the Week for his impressive play, per Asia-basket.com.

The 25-year old Johnson has also recorded a stat line of 35 points, 25 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks this season to go along with another showing of 28 points, 23 rebounds, six assists, five steals, and five blocks. He’s putting up numbers that haven’t been accomplished in the CBA in decades, according to International basketball analyst Dmitry Planidin.

Johnson leads the CBA in rebounds at nearly 12 per game while shooting over 66 percent from the floor. His Eagles squad is just 16-15 on the season, good enough for 8th out of 19 total teams, but they’d be in far worse shape without the Wildcat big man.

Looks like a man amongst boys. Looks like that Chinese food is agreeing with him too, ha. Goooo Dakari.

If Dakari had returned one more year we would have had a great team. Skal could have played facing the basket and with Murray and Ulis we would have contended for another final four I believe.

He does more with an 8 inch vertical than any player ever.

If he had stayed another year at UK, he would likely be in NBA.
Short sided decision on his part.

I hate the way the NBA has phased out true back to the basket bigs! Would’ve loved to see Dakari get some run in the league.
