University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Colin Cowherd saying UK players have underwhelmed in the NBA is one of the dumbest things you’ll ever hear in your entire life

For the life of me I will never understand why anyone would listen to Colin Cowherd’s radio show, but, it has a big following and he makes millions and I’m sitting here writing about him today on a sunny Friday afternoon, so good for him.

But he’s an idiot for the comments he made today when he went all the way in on a scorching hot take, telling his listeners John Calipari’s former players in the NBA have been underwhelming.

You’ll have to hear it to believe it:

Cowherd uses playoff wins to discredit John Wall and Anthony Davis, without acknowledging the fact they are former No. 1 picks and that No. 1 picks go to the worst team in the league. He also trashed the names of DeMarcus Cousins, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Julius Randle, Nerlens Noel, the entire Phoenix Suns roster and many others.

“Kentucky guys are mostly immature, uncoachable, underwhelming or, in Anthony Davis’ case, spectacularly gifted but I’m still waiting for the first playoff win,” he said at one point.

WHAT?! Underwhelming?!

May I remind Colin Cowherd there are currently seven Wildcats in New Orleans participating in the NBA All-Star weekend. SEVEN. There aren’t many schools with seven players in the entire league.

Has he not seen the historic numbers Karl-Anthony Towns put up in his rookie season? Or that Devin Booker is only 20 years old and and the fourth youngest player to ever score 4,000 points, behind LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant? Or that Julius Randle is one of only six players with multiple triple-doubles this season? Or that Eric Bledsoe had a triple-double two days ago? Or that DeMarcus Cousins is widely considered the best center in the NBA?

Cowherd can’t even believe his own nonsense this time around. He’s been hard on John Wall since Day 1, but this is ridiculous. He should be banned from talking about the NBA ever again.

Holy shit he’s an idiot.

Don’t take the bait on this folks. Cowherd is nothing more than a blowhard who makes inflammatory statements to get people or fanbases riled up, ala Skip Bayless. This is how turds like that make their living. They feed off of it.

This DelrayCat troll sure is whining incessantly. I’d warn him against the danger of drowning in his own melting snowflake tears, but I think his glass house has enough holes in it to provide adequate drainage at this point.

Does anyone know him personally? I think he could benefit from therapy at this point…

This has to be the dumbest load of crap ever to come out of Cowherd’s mouth. Which is really saying something because he says a lot of stupid things.

Colin Cowherd is the biggest asshat in the business. ESPN loses credibility by keeping him around. He sucks and I bet his kids don’t even like him.

LOL! Look at three of the starting five Cal named…Davis, Booker and Towns…which of the two categories do they fall in? The immature or the underwhelming? What a freaking idiot.

I will unequivocally disagree with him, as you have, from an individual performance standpoint. I don’t think there is another coach in college basketball with 2 players playing in this years all-star game, much less 3. However, I would agree with him if his stance is that Cal’s Kentucky Players have not brought success to the franchises that drafted them.

    Cousins – 0 playoff appearances
    Davis – 0 playoff appearances
Wall – 2 playoff appearances (lost in conference semi’s twice)

of the other Calipari Cat’s in the league, not one has been the focal player on a playoff team. I really hope that changes in the next few years.

A lot of that is because their franchises have done a horrible job of getting them help.

Since Cousins has been in Sacramento, the Kings used their top picks on Thomas Robinson, Ben McLemore, Nik Stauskas, Willie Cauley-Stein and Georgios Papagiannis

While trading away Isaiah Thomas (top-five MVP candidate this year) and Hassan White (All-Star snub and a perfect complement to Cousins).

Dude lol. “focal player on a playoff team” are you kidding me? How many collegiate coaches can say they have multiple active players that are the focals on ANY team?? let alone playoff teams??

      People need a reality check.

Players who get drafted high go to crappy teams. Crappy teams don’t win titles.

Just out of curiosity, I’d like to see the 5 year stats/team stats of the past 20 or so years’ top draft pick. I’m not guaranteeing this, but I think you’d find their original teams they were drafted to have underwhelmed. Again, I don’t know this for certain, but I think that rookie to 5 year bar is pretty low. At least for the teams, there’s obviously been some phenomenally gifted individuals picked at or near the top.

    He is a pure gasbag.
Every Cowherd show over the last 10 years: “LeBron, stars, Brady, Belichick, all people from the Midwest are hard working, LeBron, grinders, all people from the West Coast are laid back, economy, LeBron.”
He mentioned LeBron 3 times in a 4 minute bit about Kentucky.

He exaggerates to make his point. LeBron is 6’8 but he is 6’9 according to him. He claims Russell Wilson is too small so he is 5’10 according to him when everyone else has him at 5’11.

The Herd is what happens when you put an internet troll behind a mic and air it on TV. This is the same guy that went on air and said Clemson was a fraud and that the Giants were the worst team in the NFC East. The only reason he’s still employed is because suckers like us can’t help ourselves and take what he says seriously enough to talk about it.

I’m not sure a team made up of former UK players would win the title, but they most certainly would be better than the Suns, as Cowherd said. You give me wall, bledsoe, knight, booker, murray, lyles, KAT, AD, cousins, and PPat on a team and I feel pretty confident they’d make the playoffs (in either division) and win at least one series if not two.

    • Catsby80
      4:16 pm February 17, 2017 Permalink

go ahead and give me randle, noel, and MKG to round out my bench too. I’ll take those 13 players on a roster any day. Might not win a title, but they’d make a run at it.

    • DelrayCat
      4:21 pm February 17, 2017 Permalink

That’s definitely a title-worthy team. However, you’d be about 2 1/2 times over the cap! That’s 3 max contract players, and soon to be about 3-4 more.

    • Catsby80
      4:28 pm February 17, 2017 Permalink

I didn’t realize we were taking contracts into consideration… That certainly throws a wrench in my roster, but I don’t Cowherd was thinking that way either. I think he was just saying you could have them all and still wouldn’t compete for a title.

Bottom line, Cowherd is a bit off base here, per usual.

So using Colin’s own logic, his career is extremely underwhelming. He’s been in the radio business for around 20 years but has no major awards to his credit. Yet somehow, he has a nationally syndicated radio show.
Hey Colin, try finding some data to back up your opinion. If your listeners used your logic to evaluate your trustworthiness, they’d stop listening to your worthless banter.

I generally like Cowherd, but this is dumb. If your argument is that third and fourth year players (who were picked at the top of the draft) aren’t great because they haven’t won in the playoffs, then you’re grasping at straws. There’s a reason that those teams are picking #1 and #2 in the draft–it’s because they’re the worst teams in the NBA. They’re not going to automatically start winning immediately. Even with the second greatest player in history–LeBron–the Cavs didn’t make the playoffs until his third year. And, except for one year going to the finals, during LeBron’s first seven years in the league the Cavs didn’t do jack squat in the playoffs.

I was thinking idiot before I even got through it as well. As to his question who would guard Lebron, that team. That is probably one of the most important and never talked about thing cal teaches them. Yes they are all skilled talents, but cals teams as talented as they are all, would not have the success they continue to have year after year without learning to sacrifice and play as a team. It’s a family thing, cowturd wouldn’t understand. Granted, he has had a few through here that didn’t get it. Not many.
