CBS Sports: “Willie Cauley-Stein’s true potential unlocking every day, and it’s scary”

WillieSacJersey1

James Herbert over at CBSSports.com has a very lengthy piece on Willie Cauley-Stein, explaining what everyone in Big Blue Nation already knows: he’s just a different kind of guy, one who marches to the beat of his own drum.

Herbert spoke to several of Cauley-Stein’s former teammates, including UK roommate Tod Lanter, who all described him as misunderstood. As you know, Willie drew lots of criticism in the months leading up to the draft as many wondered if he truly loves basketball. Of course Willie loves basketball. He’s just Willie, and those who don’t know him often have a hard time understanding his personality.

Fans in Sacramento will soon grow to love him, just as we did here in Kentucky. Not only for his wacky haircuts, spontaneous new tattoos popping up each game, or heartfelt postgame comments, but for what he will bring to the court. He’s an athletic freak and the NBA will soon find that out.

Read the entire article here over at CBSSports.com — it’s a good one.

Personally, I can’t wait to watch Willie in that train wreck of a season ahead for the Kings. #SuicideSquad

I could not agree more. Where was the uh “scary potential” in the final four ? Most inexcusable loss of all time.

Despite the selfish comments above, WCS is a fantastic kid and one of the most improved players in years across the sport. He was great with fans and especially with disadvantaged and ill kids. I will miss him in blue.

As for those above, thanks for being predictable and not seeing the bigger picture.
