Bulls looking to trade Teague

(H/t CatsPause)

Rumors have emerged that the Chicago Bulls are finalizing a deal that would send Marquis Teague to the Brooklyn Nets for Toko Shengelia. Brooklyn would also send Tyshawn Taylor to New Orleans for cash.

Teague was drafted by the Bulls in 2012 as the 29th overall pick. This season he spent a few weeks playing in the D-league with the Iowa Energy. With the Bulls this season, Teague has been averaging 12.7 minutes in 19 games for the Bulls. He has only been shooting at an average of 24.2% for the Bulls as well.

I think another year at UK would have been mutually beneficial . He could have furthered his game and we wouldn’t have to live through the Ryan Harrow project last year.

Could you imagine what last year’s team would’ve looked like with Teague and Lamb? Would’ve been 100% better and Teague and Lamb may have been lottery picks last year.

Hopefully a few of our current guys are paying attention to a few former players who mistakenly left early. Yea the money may be good NOW if you leave and are drafted (albeit 15 spots fewer than your potential). But another year in school will give you more exposure and more money in the long run.

Another case of Cal pushing a guy out the door way too early so that he can put another feather in his cap. “Look at how many first round picks I got again. You fans are crazy!” Yeah, but we’re not stupid Cal. Well, there are some very stupid fans – those that hero worship you.

Please show me anywhere where Cal pushed Teague and Lamb out the door. From what I heard he advised Teague especially to stay. Cal gives every player information he gets from NBA contacts about which teams would be interested in them and where they would be projected to go. He can’t force them to stay if they want to enter the draft. These kids have people in their ears who want to make money off of them and don’t have their best interests at heart and some of them aren’t smart enough to shut them out. Teague made a bad decision, something many teenagers do every day. He chose to strike while the iron was hot. Many adults would make the same bad choice. The point is it is the player’s choice.

Believe what you want and keep drinking the Cal Kool-Aid. Cal had Ryan Harrow in the wings, remember? He was supposed to be the next coming, right? If the guy was half the coach as he is mega-ego, we’d never lose a game.

Teague obviously should have came back another year. No question about it. I was listening to an NBA podcast the other day and i am pretty sure that they said that Teague has the lowest PER in the entire league. That’s alarming! I have loved for the “pitbull” to stayed one year longer and be last years leader.

This isn’t about what might have been because hindsight is 20/20. Yes, staying would have helped our team and likely propelled his draft stock. However, this trade is a good thing for Teague and could allow him to progress much like his brother. More minutes with a veteran squad. Good for him and we should support the former cat.

Yes he probably should have stayed. Would have definitely been top 10 last year and made a ton more money. However, what you forget is most 1 and done players families really need the money. That isn’t how Teague was… His brother already has taken care of that. Teague simply accomplished what he wanted to and saw no need in returning.

Not sure how another year at UK would have helped Teague. Would have helped UK. He would have gotten some better. But I doubt it would have improved his draft position much.

The Bulls are just cleaning up their roster for the future. Teague had no business jumping to the NBA early, and will more than likely be out of the league & off to Europe as soon as his contract is up. Teague really needed to stay to improve or develop his outside game. With what he isn’t doing in the league, Lamb should have also stayed.

Why did the Nets trade for a PG in Teague only to trade their PG in Taylor to N.O.? I’m sure Taylor doesn’t make as much $ as Marquis does either. If N.O. needed a PG they should’ve just traded for Teague. Could you imagine Davis, Teague and Miller on the Hornets together?
