BBNBA: Towns, Kanter, and Wall put up big numbers, but their teams fall short

Recap:

  • In the post Jimmy Butler era for the Minnesota Timberwolves, all was going well until last night. The Wolves needed a big scorer with two starters combining for just 7 points on a combined 2-14 from the field. Towns continued to put up numbers with Butler gone, finishing with 15 points and 20 rebounds. The Wolves dropped the game against the Grizzlies by the score of 100-87.
  • We’ve mentioned it in these posts before, but the New York Knicks are continuing down the current path toward eventually tanking for a high pick in the upcoming draft. Last night, the Knicks lost by 14 at the hands of the Orlando Magic. It wasn’t for lack of effort from former Cat Enes Kanter, who had a monster night of 21 points and 19 rebounds.
  • The Washington Wizards have not lived up to their hopes and expectations from the preseason and the Dwight Howard experiment has not been effective. John Wall scored 24 points on 10-21 shooting last night, but struggled defensively as Damian Lillard went for 40 points and the Trail Blazers picked up the ten point W.
