BBNBA: SGA Revives Thunder in Win Over Pistons

Good morning, folks. SGA’s hot shooting night has the Thunder back on track. Let’s talk NBA.

SGA helps steady OKC Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder were the hottest team in the entire NBA about a week ago, rattling off 14 wins over its previous 17 outings. Since then, the Thunder lost its spark, dropping two games in demoralizing fashion against two of the league’s top overall squads – the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers – and failing to score more than 94 points in either game.

In the first of its three-game East Coast road trip, OKC fended off the Detroit Pistons to secure a 114-107 win and returned back to its winning ways. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for the Thunder, dropping 27 points on an impressive shooting clip of 12-15 from the field in addition to two rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Nerlens Noel added eight points, three rebounds, and three blocks for OKC while Hamidou Diallo was a DNP-Coaches Decision.

For the Pistons, Brandon Knight scored in double-digits for the fifth straight consecutive game, posting 18 points on 6-15 shooting, including a 4-9 clip from distance. The former ‘Cat also recorded two rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Christian Wood scored a career-high 29 points for the Pistons, too (one of my current favorite players to watch at the moment).

Julius Randle drops 32 on Utah Jazz

It was another big-number night for New York Knicks forward Julius Randle, who went for a BBNBA-high 32 points to go along with 11 rebounds in what was his fourth straight double-double and 28th of the season. Randle shot 12-21 from the floor and connected on two of his three attempted looks from beyond the arc. Mind you, this was also against Rudy Gobert.

Unfortunately for Randle and company, the Utah Jazz routed the Knicks 112-104, who never led once throughout the evening.

Kevin Knox registered two points, five rebounds, and two assists in 19 minutes, shooting 1-5 overall.

Other notes

  • Willie Cauley-Stein is pregnant! The big man made an announcement on social media Wednesday night that he’s having a baby girl. WCS also played in his first game back for the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday after missing seven in a row due to personal reasons. In 15 minutes against the New Orleans Pelicans, he posted two points, five rebounds, and two blocks.

  • Enes Kanter dropped a 10-point, 11-rebound performance in the Boston Celtics 112-106 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, who watched Collin Sexton pop off for a career-high 41 points. The Celtics are now 9-0 this season when Kanter records a double-double.
  • Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat earned a tightly contested 116-113 victory over the Orlando Magic. Adebayo contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while shooting 5-9 from the floor.
  • We’ll end the recap with Eric Bledsoe and the Milwaukee Bucks, who took down the Indiana Pacers, 119-100. The one-time Kentucky guard posted 16 points, five rebounds, and seven assists for the Bucks, who bounced back after a surprising blowout loss to the Heat a couple of nights ago.
